Our Story

We discovered this large, partly derelict house within a totally overgrown garden in 2009. After moving an overgrown shrub so we could get in through the front door, we found ourselves in a magnificent hall with a rare Victorian cast iron skylight, Maws tiled floor and rain soaked wallpaper hanging off the walls! We just had to take it on, restore the obviously tarnished grandeur and share it with anyone who wants to escape from the busy world to the elegance of the past. This includes being served, on arrival, with tea and home-made cake in the Drawing Room or for those arriving in the evening, a glass of wine and nibbles.

Staying at The Old Rectory and enjoying it’s extensive grounds, is now an experience in itself. Pets are welcome. They can check out the rug in the Blue Room, which has been in our family for over 100years (and we have always had pets), or they can follow the Badger runs in the back garden or chase squirrels!

If you would like more information about The Old Rectory and the garden (included in the National Garden Scheme), please ask. We do short guided tours of the house and gardens. We also have a leaflet showing the Victorian layout of the garden and listing some of the more unusual plants and trees

Seeing is believing

The Old Rectory is in Pembrokeshire, just 10 minutes off the A40 between Carmarthen and Haverfordwest. The main line railway station at Whitland is 10 minutes away. The ferries at Pembroke Dock and Fishguard are both under one hour.
